Seres takes control of Aito as Huawei trims margins
The Chinese automaker strengthens its grip on the EV brand, but profits remain under pressure because of the Huawei deal.
Seres Auto has strengthened its control over Aito, the brand created with Huawei, at a time when the group’s profitability has weakened. The move comes as the technology partner reportedly collects a sizable amount for each vehicle sold, around 7,500 dollars.
For China’s market, this is a meaningful shift: Seres wants to manage the brand and its margins more directly in a sector where intense price competition is increasingly squeezing profits.
